What Makes You Cry?

There are a lot of reasons why a person cries. Crying entails various forms of emotions. It could be out of pain, anger, disappointment, frustration, sadness, or even happiness. It could also be because someone made you cry because he/she hurt you. But one thing is for sure, we don't cry out of nothing. We only cry for the things that mean the most to us.

Most often than not, we try to hide when we cry. Because once we do, we don't know when our tears are gonna stop. And sometimes, we don't want or we don't know how to explain to other people why we are crying once they see us. We're afraid they're gonna judge us because they won't understand. So we hide somewhere we can be alone. It could be in the shower or in our room. We go to a place where we can feel secure and that's where we release the tears that we've been holding on.

Each of us has our own different kryptonite— our weakness. Something or someone that could really make us cry in an instant. Others would laugh at the pettiness of the things that we cry over and vice versa. Others don't get it why we cry over certain things. To them it's not worth it, but for us it mean the whole world.

There was a point in my life where I didn't get why someone cry over the loss of their pet. Before, I would laugh when I hear such a story. Because I really didn't get it. It's just a pet. Then life really has a way of turning things around. I experienced being in their shoes. It's not even my pet to begin with, but I learned to love it. Simply because it makes me happy just by seeing this dog. Then eventually, it died. And that's when I get it. I felt the pain of losing a dog. True enough it's really heartbreaking. The pain is truly incomparable.

The thing is, you really can't judge someone if you haven't been in their shoes. When it hurts, it hurts. You have no right to say it doesn't especially if you didn't get to experience such a thing. It's easy to give someone a pep talk when she is crying, but to feel what they're feeling is a whole different story. We have no idea about the pain that a person is carrying. You can't really measure the pain of a person even if you tried your hardest to be in their shoes. Each of us deal with pain differently.

When we were born and we cried it meant that we're alive. Perhaps until now it still applies. When we cry it means that we are still breathing. We are still alive. We still have feelings. We are still aware of the happenings around us. We still care.

Crying isn't a sign of weakness. At times we cry because we can't contain our happiness. Other times we cry because we want to release some tension. There are also instances when we cry because of too much anger. But for whatever reason, what's certain is that we only cry for the things that matter most to us. We cry over the things that we care the most.

What makes you cry?

au revoir. 😊
