Being alone doesn't mean being lonely. Someone who eats in a restaurant all by herself doesn't mean that they are lonely. Someone who chooses to travel alone doesn't mean that she is sad. Someone who chooses to watch a movie in the theater by himself isn't lonely. 

There are probably some people who choose to travel alone because they want to get away from a painful situation. They want to breathe some fresh air. But not all people choose to do that for the same reason. There are people who would rather go alone than wait for other people to join them. Simply because they enjoy doing things alone. They don't need someone to be with them because they are perfectly okay by themselves. Watching someone eat alone in a restaurant might give others a feeling of sadness, but that's not how it truly is. There are some who choose to eat alone because it's their way of destressing. But not all who eat in a restaurant alone have the same reason.

Some people prefer to go out alone because it's more convenient for them. Personally, I find it offensive to see posts on social media regarding someone who is eating alone in a restaurant. When someone takes a photo of a person eating alone, they caption it with something like, "I feel sorry for her. She's probably going through something, but it's okay. Everything's going to be okay. You're going to be okay." They already created stories in their minds without really knowing the true story. The truth is, they don't need your pity. You don't have to feel sorry for the people who choose to be alone. They are perfectly fine on their own. Don't get me wrong; there's nothing wrong with sympathizing with other people. But you have to get your facts straight before doing just that. I don't mean that when you see someone alone, you have to approach them and ask them if they're okay. What I'm trying to say is that when you don't know someone, don't just assume. Be wise enough to distinguish between someone who needs help and someone who doesn't. To put it simply, learn to mind your own business. Stop judging people based solely on your assumptions.

Alone doesn't necessarily mean sad. Alone doesn't mean boring. It's just the way they function. It's just the way they prefer it. They're better that way. It's more peaceful. Being alone doesn't mean lonely, just as being with someone doesn't mean happy.
