What Does Giving Up Mean

A lot of times we see banners hanging somewhere on the street or some social media post saying "Never Give Up" or "Do Not Give Up." But what does giving up truly mean?

To some giving up means completely losing hope to the point that you no longer want to try. Like when looking for a job and you already experienced countless rejection, so you stop trying. There are also couples who have given up on having a baby. Probably because they've already done everything that they could, they've already invested a lot of money. And yet, they still haven't been blessed with a child. So they give up. But can someone really give up? I mean once you said that you already gave up, did you really mean it? Or are you still holding on to that tiny hope that things could still change and would turn in your favor?

It's so easy to say that you give up. The real challenge is to accept the consequences of your choice. Because once you give up, it means that you no longer expect to happen the things that you badly want to happen. It means that you no longer desire the things that you've been constantly praying for every night. It means that you already accepted that you don't deserve the things that you once wanted.  Giving up means you want something, but you can't have it and you can't do anything about it, so you stop pursuing it. Giving up means letting go of the fake scenarios we created in our mind. It means letting go of all the expectations and just let things be. Come what may. It means surrendering. Giving up means surrendering it all to God. Letting Him handle the situation. That whatever happens, it will always be for the best reason.

They say never give up. It's easier to say those words than to live with it. It would take a lot of commitment, dedication and patience. Some people would say that giving up is for the weak. But for me, giving up is a sign of strength. Having the courage to let go is strength. Cause one of the hardest things to do in life is to let go of something that you want so bad. It's a tough decision to decide to stop trying to get the things you think would make you happy and complete. That's why having the willpower to give up is an act of bravery.

Sometimes the best thing that we can do is to stop forcing things and let them take their natural course. And no matter how much we want something, if it isn't really meant for us it will never be. Even if we gave our all. In the end, what's really meant for us will always make its way towards us. No need to force things. And most importantly, no need to worry.

au revoir. 😊
