Sat With Ren: Why It's Important To Prioritize Yourself

Prioritizing oneself isn't selfish. It doesn't mean that you are only thinking about yourself. It does not necessarily mean that you don't care about other people. It doesn't imply that you think highly of yourself, but it's thinking of yourself as equal to them. It's not being inconsiderate. Prioritizing oneself means caring for your mental well-being. It's knowing when to stop when you know you've already had enough.

It is important to give yourself time and space when you feel like everything or everyone around you seems to drain your energy. It's not selfish to put yourself first every now and then. It's necessary to ask yourself how you really feel about something. And if it doesn't serve you good, you have to know that you can always take a step back. As the saying goes, "If you can't stand the heat, get out of the kitchen." You don't have to force yourself and deal with everything that only suck the life out of you.

There's nothing wrong with putting the needs of others first, but you should also never forget yourself. Your well-being is more important than anyone else. Before you think what other people want, make sure that you also ask yourself. There's a fine line between being a decent person and knowing when you are already becoming a doormat to other people. Never give them the power to have the last say in your life especially the decisions that you make. Because in the end, it's you who is going to live with the consequences of your choices, whether it's bad or good.

You cannot expect other people to treat you fairly if you always feel like you need to consider their needs first. If you always let them get their way, they would think that it's okay for you. They would think that your needs aren't important. They won't even consider about how you feel. They would always think that everything is okay for you even if it isn't. They would think that it's okay for you to be stepped on and to disregard your wants. It's okay to put yourself first without feeling guilty. Never agree with things that you are not okay with.

Once you learn how to prioritize yourself, you're gonna realize that you also deserve the best things in life. You won't settle for just anything. You have to learn how to love yourself a little extra in a sense that no amount of negativity can penetrate your mind or disturb your inner peace. You have to learn how to prioritize yourself every once in a while and choose what's best for you without minding what other people might think.

au revoir. 😊
