‎Sat With Ree: What It's Like Not To Be A Risk Taker

Are you the type of person who lives with the saying, "You Only Live Once?" Or are you the indecisive type, who is not willing to try something unless you know what the end result would be?

Most people would agree that it's better to take the risk than to lose the chance. It's probably true, but let's admit that it's not always the case for most of us. Not everyone has the bravery to try new things. We want to see first the result of something before we go for it. We want to know if we will succeed, and once we know that we're only going to fail or we won't gain anything from it we won't try anymore.

Sometimes it pays to not be a risk taker, it could save time, effort and in some cases funds or resources. 😅

Taking a risk requires great courage, that's why some people find it hard to do so. I think younger people are more risk takers than the older ones. Probably because older people have many considerations when it comes to decision-making.

Not being a risk taker means wondering all your life about the things that you didn't try. It will take time before you fully get them off of your mind. You'll mull over it for so long whether not taking the risk was really the smartest move that you took. It's overthinking about the pros and cons of what you want to try, then it will always boil down to thinking of the worst case scenario. That's why you always end up not taking the risk at all. Not being a risk taker could sometimes make you feel regretful.

If you aren't willing to take a risk, you let your fear get the best of you. It's either you know yourself all too well or you don't believe in your capabilities. Somehow you feel that you have a higher chance of failing. You underestimate yourself.

You might say that those who are not risk takers are pessimistic, but they aren't. In fact, they are the optimistic one. They believe opportunities aren't passing them. They have faith that the best things are yet to come. They strongly believe that God will always make a way for the things that are truly for them.

Sometimes a person doesn't want to try because they've been badly hurt from the same kind of experience. They never want to feel the same kind of disappointment again. That at some point in their life, they've already given their best, but still failed at it. So, they think to themselves that they already had enough, and don't even want to try again.

People who are not willing to take risks do not believe in "trial and error." That's why when they decided to go for something unknown, they will surely give their all. It doesn't mean that they know they have a higher chance of succeeding at it. It only means that they found something that they badly wanted. If a person decided to take a risk it only means that the thing they wanted to pursue matter a lot to them. They found something worth trying.

Personally, I believe that everyone of us is a risk taker. We only need to find something that would give us the eagerness to try. Something that would make our heart beat fast and get on our feet. Something that even if we knew there is a higher chance of failing, we would still be willing to try. Something that we would be willing to do whatever it takes.

au revoir.😊
