Sat With Ree: How To Achieve Your New Year's Resolution

New Year's resolution are for the things you want to start or stop doing, something you want to change, or the things you want to do less. It's like making a pact with yourself. We do it for reasons like, it doesn't serve us any good, it's not beneficial, it's unhealthy or simply because we know it's wrong.

Some people are good at keeping up with their New Year's resolution, while there are some who are only able to stay dedicated for at least the first 3 months. Some are only devoted to it before the new year even began, and then stop right after January 1.

So, how can you achieve your New Year's resolution? That at the end of the year, you'll be able to give yourself a pat in the back and proudly say, "Congratulations! We made it, self." Only three things: discipline, motivation and commitment.

1. Discipline.  Discipline is about not crossing the invisible line that you drew. It's having the power to control yourself even when a lot of temptations are around you. If you have it within you, your set resolution is somehow achievable. If you lack it, it will be difficult for you to achieve what you want to at the end of the year. You will find it so easy to just give up. Sometimes you learn how to have discipline as you journey through achieving your set New Year's resolution. Others don't find it in their self and don't even try to have it that's why they don't succeed.

2. Motivation. If you are motivated enough you will find it so easy to stay devoted with what you're trying to achieve. Do not think about what will happen if you stay dedicated with your goal, think about the effect if you won't be able to achieve it. Find something that will motivate you, like if your New Year's resolution is to eat less because you feel that you're already getting big. Hang your favorite shirt—that you haven't wear in while because it won't fit anymore— in a place that you always see. In that case, every time you see it you're gonna feel motivated. Visualizing the end-result of what you're working hard for will already be enough motivation.

3. Commitment. If you are truly committed with your New Year's resolution it's really possible to achieve it. Some people don't have this that's why they fail, in life and in love. Kidding aside, if you can't stay committed into something it will really be a problem for you. Commitment is one of the reasons why most people succeed in what they do. Even if they don't know how to do it, if they are truly committed to it they will find ways to be good at it. You have to learn to stay focused and dedicated even when you feel you can't go with it anymore. If you know how to commit, even if you encounter discouragement along the way you will still push and strive to achieve what you want to achieve.

The truth is you don't really need a New Year to start or stop doing something. Everyday is always a great day to make a pact with yourself just as long as you know that you are disciplined, you are motivated and you don't have any commitment issue. New Year's resolution/s can also best achieve if you're doing it for yourself and not because you are only influenced by other people, or you are just trying to impress other people.

So, good luck in achieving your New Year's Resolution. Though you don't need it anymore, because I know that you can make it. I believe in you.

au revoir.😊
