The Script's The Satellites World Tour

Last Tuesday, February 11, 2025, I had the incredible opportunity to watch The Script live at Araneta Coliseum for their Satellites World Tour. It was a two-night show, both nights sold out, proving just how much love and admiration Filipino fans have for them. Having seen them live once before, this was my second time experiencing their magic—only this time, I came prepared. Unlike my first experience when I barely had time to settle in before the show started, I arrived early, fully energized and ready to soak in every moment.

The show started at 8:03 PM (yes, I checked my watch like an obsessed fan), and the moment they entered, the crowd lost it. They made their entrance like absolute rockstars, escorted by people carrying lightsaber-like sticks. Danny O'Donoghue looked effortlessly cool in a long black coat with a red sequin long sleeve underneath—because why not add a little extra sparkle to an already dazzling night?

They kicked off the night on a makeshift stage at the back of the venue, instantly setting the crowd on fire. Danny’s charm was undeniable, and the energy in the coliseum skyrocketed. They performed two songs there before making their way to the main stage.

The highlight of the night for me? Danny coming close—just a few feet away from where I was standing. I never expected him to come near like that, and I was absolutely ecstatic. He did this while singing Nothing, and it felt like he truly wanted to connect with every single person in the crowd. His warmth and enthusiasm were unmatched.

They played a killer setlist—If You Could See Me Now, Breakeven, The Man Who Can’t Be Moved, Superheroes, For the First Time, Six Degrees of Separation—basically, an emotional rollercoaster. But my absolute favorite of the night? Never Seen Anything Quite Like You. Hearing it live felt like being wrapped in a warm, emotional hug.

Now, let me tell you about my first time watching them live. I had zero energy to sing because I had skipped dinner, ran to the venue like a contestant on Amazing Race, and barely made it inside before the show started. This time? Oh, I was READY. Breakeven and For the First Time hit differently when you have the energy to actually scream the lyrics. "We’re smiling but we’re close to tears, even after all these years." And, "I'm still alive but I'm barely breathing."

The next night, Danny went ahead and casually busked outside the venue while sitting on a car. And no, I was NOT there to witness it. Was I jealous of the people who saw it up close? Absolutely. Not every artist would do that for free, but Danny? He’s built different.

The concert ended with Hall of Fame, with everyone’s cellphone flashlights turning the venue into a glowing sea of emotions. It was absolutely magical. And then came my other favorite part—confetti shower! There’s just something about tiny bits of paper falling from the sky that makes everything feel like a fairytale. My ultimate goal next time? To actually catch some of those confettis (because, clearly, they have a personal vendetta against me).

This concert was everything I had hoped for and more. Can’t wait to see them again—and next time, I WILL get that confetti moment. Until then, The Script, you have my heart.

au revoir. 😃
